According to the company, a locking mechanism and high moment capabilities means the tool changer can withstand the same wear and tear as the robot itself.ROMHELD is distributing robotic tool changers which allow robots to automatically exchange grippers and end-effector tooling.
The automatic tool changers from ATI-Industrial Automation come in various sizes, with payloads ranging from 8kg to 1135kg. The largest QC-602 model is said to be the strongest tool changer on the market.
The two-piece units consist of a master side fitted directly onto the robot piece, and a tool side attached to the gripper or tool. Once a tool or gripper is fitted with the tool side piece, the fitted robot will be able to pick it up.
According to the company, a locking mechanism and high moment capabilities means the tool changer can withstand the same wear and tear as the robot itself. The unit will also hold the tool securely in the event of a power failure.
The robotic tool changers are suited for press and machine loading/unloading, welding, assembly and material handling jobs. They can also be fitted with optional modules for electrical, compressed air and vacuum supply.
