Industrial designers in the manufacturing and production sectors are said to be largely unaware of how to protect their IP.DESIGN Victoria has launched a guide to help Australia’s industrial designers protect their intellectual property.

The publication titled Make Your Mark is a joint effort by Design Victoria and IP Australia. It aims to help industrial designers understand intellectual property (IP) and use this knowledge effectively.

According to Design Victoria, IP is a valuable business asset which can contribute to commercial success. Industrial designers in the manufacturing and production sectors are said to be largely unaware of how to protect their IP.

This can be an issue especially where designers are dealing with clients. These mistakes can end up costing designers their future successes.

The guide is available for download online.
