Free Autodesk software use expanded

AUTODESK has announced it will deliver an updated version of the free Inventor LT software before the current version expires on 1 May 2008.

According to the company, it recently expanded availability of the software into Australia and New Zealand. This accelerated the already high demand for the current version.

Inventor LT is a light version of the Autodesk Inventor 3D software. It allows manufacturers to create, share and edit 3D part models from different CAD systems, improving communications with suppliers and customers.

It has a similar user interface and same part-level 3D modelling, import and export, documentation and rendering technology as Autodesk Inventor. The company claims this allows all files created and 3D design skills from other 3D software to be fully transferred to Inventor LT.

The new version of Inventor LT will be based on the recently-released Inventor 2009, and will be offered as a Technology Preview with free, time-bound licensing. It will be available for download through Autodesk Labs within the first quarter of 2008.
