Prosoft loses its founder and President
PROSOFT Technology’s founder and President Douglas Sharratt was killed in a plane crash in Oregon, United States on 16 July 2008.
According to the company, his succession plan has stipulated for Gary Joke to assume his new position as the President and CEO of the company. Joke had previously been the Chief Financial Officer.
Sharratt had started ProSoft in his garage 20 years ago. Since then, the technology company had grown from a one-man operation to a multi-million dollar firm with 100 employees and 15 offices around the world.
Sharratt was also the architect of the first embedded Modbus communications device allowing disparate PLCs to communicate. This had a profound effect on the automation industry and resulted in partnerships with
Rockwell Automation and
Schneider Electric.
