SIEMENS says its SIMATIC S7-1200 controller has been installed by Versacold, in what the company says is the first installation of the new product in Australia.

According to Versacold Logistics, it chose the SIMATIC S7-1200 controller because of its price-performance ratio, integrated Ethernet port, and expandability.

Versacold Logistics saw the expandability of the SIMATIC S7-1200 as a key feature, as it allows the company to optimise the automation hardware required for the particular task at hand.

Siemens says the modular SIMATIC S7-1200 controller family was designed to be flexible, scalable and adaptable, in order to fit the requirements of individual machine.

Simens claims the SIMATIC S7-1200, with an integrated PROFINET interface, allows efficient communication for automation requirements across a wide range of applications.

The integrated PROFINET interface is used for programming, as well as for HMI and PLC-to-PLC communication. It also supports communication with third-party devices using open Ethernet protocols.
