AUTODESK has named Cochlear Bone Anchored Solutions the February Inventor of the Month, after Cochlear used Autodesk Inventor software to digitally prototype its Baha bone conduction hearing solution.

The Cochlear Baha system uses direct bone conduction to transfer sound to the cochlea in the inner ear. By bypassing the outer and middle ear, which might be blocked, damaged or otherwise impaired, people with hearing loss get clearer sounds.

Cochlear Bone Anchored Solutions says the bone conduction implant and external sound processor needed to be precisely designed, engineered and manufactured. The company dealt with scales of one hundred-thousandths of a millimetre.

According to Cochlear Bone Anchored Solutions, Autodesk Inventor helped it achieve the precision via detailed 3D views of products in software.

The Autodesk Inventor of the Month program chooses a winner from 800,000 users of the Autodesk Inventor software, based on engineering excellence and groundbreaking innovation.
