FREIGHT pickup and distribution service provider Coastal Midwest Transport has partnered with Interdev to implement a warehouse and trucking monitoring technology.
Coastal Midwest undertook a series of pilot studies to determine the best way to improve delivery accuracy and efficiency, in response to the expanding nature of their business.
The Transporta dispatch system from Interdev will streamline the freight company’s operations, as well as allow larger clients to track their deliveries from despatch to arrival.
The technology utilises GPS-enabled Intermec CN3 units from Gamma Solutions, which scan barcodes and assessment notes, and tracks proof of delivery signatures. The data is then forwarded to clients and the company for real-time tracking of freight logistics as they enter and depart particular depots.
Freight delivery drivers, operations personnel and members of the dispatch staff will use the technology at various stages of the transportation process. According to the company, it chose the technology over rival logistics solutions because of the synergy between the different tools within the system.
For example, Coastal Midwest’s Freightmate legacy accounting and transport package has been successfully interfaced with the XMotion technology. Additionally, the Intermec CN3 devices have also been synergised with XMotion.
Ongoing technical support will be provided by Interdev and Gamma Solutions for the new freight distribution technology application. Gamma will also help to further streamline Coastal Midwest Transport’s delivery operations.
