DALSA has released the BOA Smart Camera, an IP67 rated all-in-one machine vision camera being distributed in Australia by Adept Electronic Solutions.

According to Dalsa, BOA is smarter, easier to use and more flexible than previous generations of smart cameras, incorporating multiple processing engines.

This processing power allows algorithm optimisation via digital signal processing, application management via the processor, and sensor management via field programmable gate arrays.

Dalsa claims the BOA Smart Camera also includes embedded application software, which can be set up through a standard web browser. With no software to install, there are no version control problems. The cameras also have built-in factory communications.

The BOA Smart Camera is in a 44mm cube form factor, and the enclosure is said to be easy to mount in tight-fit applications. The IP67 housing allows the camera to be used in harsh, wash-down environments.

The BOA Smart Camera includes Dalsa’s iNspect software, which the company claims is ideal for both first time and experienced vision users, with inspection capabilities for a multitude of applications.

The BOA vision system is available immediately in a monochrome version, with a colour version to available later in 2009.
