RITTAL has developed a computer room air conditioning system to provide raised floor climate control for the hubs of industrial IT management systems.
The CRAC system is suited for low and medium density data centres and operates by drawing in warm air from the server enclosures at the top of the unit, then cooling it with water or a refrigerant in a closed heat exchanger.
This air is then filtered and blown to the false floor, where it rises into the cold aisle. The fan is positioned in the raised floor, allowing cool air to be distributed in the raise floor without impediment.
The design features result in more available space in the enclosure itself for a larger heat exchanger. The airflow also encounters less resistance, increasing efficiency by ten to 30%.
